NRA Day One

Update: Apparently no less prestigious a rag than The New York Times has jumped into the smear campaign, running an editorial chastising the NRA for not allowing attendees to be armed on the exhibit hall floor. Apparently the editors of “the paper of record” don’t have reading comprehension skills any greater than some people on gun forums. Of course, there is always the possibility that the editors of the NYT knew what they were doing. Actually, I think it’s way more than possible, it’s probably.

Here’s another fun fact for the NYT. When you go to a car show, the cars not only have the gas tanks drained, they have the batteries disconnected. They should take on Big Auto over this outrage.

I checked in to the NRA Media Room and got my highly impressive credentials. Well, maybe not so impressive, but good enough to get me into the exhibit hall and hopefully some other areas. Which I will proceed to do as soon as I get this post on line. And have a cup or two of coffee as well.

From the length of the line waiting outside before the hall opened, my guesstimate is this is going to be a very well attended show.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention. No one asked me to check a firearm or demanded that I remove the firing pin before I went inside.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I’m not surprised. This article in The Tennessean and picked up by some left wing web sites which misrepresented the ban on operational guns at the exhibits as a ban on attendees being armed.

This in it’s turned set the “outrage brigades” on various web forums afire with 10,000 previous grievances that the NRA had perpetrated against gun owners over the years. Sadly, reading comprehension is not required to post on forums, so this, like most bad information on the Internet, spread like wild fire.

That, of course, was the point of spreading the false story in the first place. A blatant attempt to drive a wedge between different factions of gun owners and perpetuate lies.

Lies being all that the left has these days.

Enough of that.

I’ll have more later on, but some friends just came in and it’s time to renew acquaintances.

After a long career as a field EMS provider, I'm now doing all that back office stuff I used to laugh at. Life is full of ironies, isn't it? I still live in the Northeast corner of the United States, although I hope to change that to another part of the country more in tune with my values and beliefs. I still write about EMS, but I'm adding more and more non EMS subject matter. Thanks for visiting.
