Burl Ives? Yeah, Burl Ives. Known mostly for narrating “Rudolph, The Red Nosed Reindeer” or maybe you know him from “Have A Holly Jolly Christmas”. Ives was an actor, folk singer, and country singer. He also did a lot of narrations and voice overs.
As an actor he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in “The Big Country” a 1958 western staring Gregory Peck, Charlton Heston, and Jean Simmons. He also played opposite Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor in “Cat On A Hot Tin Roof”, also from 1958.
This was his biggest hit. From 1962,
