McDonald’s Tests Self-Serve McCafe Coffee Kiosk

McDonald’s has been spotted testing a self-serve McCafe coffee station/kiosk out in downtown Chicago.

The station is located in the restaurant but apart from the counter and looks to be a theoretically more convenient way for those who just want a cup of coffee to skip the regular line (while also freeing employees from having to make each drink in the back).

The coffee station includes a touchpad for ordering and paying (it appears to take credit card only), a beverage spout, and a dispenser for cups.

This is a reaction to the Dumbocrats push for a $15.00/hour minimum wage for entry level employees. Restaurant owners and others are going to look at ways to automate as much of their company as possible. Instead of 20 people making $15.00/hour to put mediocre food in paper bags, an automated restaurant will need maybe a half dozen workers. They’ll make $15.00/hour, but the other 14 will be making $0.0/an hour.
As the saying goes, the real minimum wage is always zero.
I have little doubt that the Socialist Party will try to pass “anti automation” laws to make it harder for restaurant operators to cut back on the size of it’s employee base. Every time the socialists spend other people’s money, those other people figure out a way to cut the number of employees.
An automated machine might cost $20,000.00, but it doesn’t take bathroom breaks, call in sick to go to a cool party, need health insurance, or take a vacation. Nor does it pilfer a free meal now and then or undercharge it’s friends for food when they come in to the restaurant.
I’d also bet that no machine has ever spit into someone’s food, either.
What’s not to like?
This is another step towards automating fast food restaurants and cutting back on staff.
This is the future,

Customers don’t even have to read, they can just look at the pictures and touch the meal they want. No cash either, credit or debit card only. That saves the owner a lot of work and makes the store a non target for thieves or robbers.

How’s that $15.00 minimum wage working out for you, bunky?

I'm a retired paramedic who formerly worked in a largish city in the Northeast corner of the U.S. In my post EMS life I provide Quality Improvement instruction and consulting under contract. I haven't really retired, I just don't work nights, holidays, or weekends.  I escaped the Northeast a couple of years ago and now live in Texas.  I'm more than just a little opinionated, but that comes with having been around the block more than once. You can email me at EMSArtifact@gmail.com After living most of my life (so far) in the northeast my lovely wife and I have moved to central Texas because we weren't comfortable in the northeast any longer. Life is full of twists and turns.
