Constitutional Carry Comes To West Virginia

Technically, it will come at the end of May, but the bill has been passed into law over the veto of the Governor.

Legislature overrides Tomblin, allows permitless hidden gun

It will soon be legal for adults in West Virginia to carry hidden handguns with no training and without a permit, after the Legislature acted swiftly, and against the wishes of law enforcement, to override Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin’s veto of the legislation.

Tomblin held a rare veto-signing ceremony Thursday, surrounded by dozens of police officers, to try to convince legislators to let the veto stand.

“I urge you to look around this room for a moment and see that law enforcement are concerned about this bill,” Tomblin said Thursday.

Mister Gutman seems to be clutching his pearls with his prose and the Governor is making political hay.

No doubt there will be many stories of how lawless people will be engaging in shoot outs over parking spaces or some such nonsense. None of which has happened in any state where Constitutional Carry has been enacted.

I’d make a snarky comment about how the Governor and other politicians would want to have a test before people could vote, but I don’t want to put any ideas in his head.

My prediction is that nothing will happen except that crime will decrease.

I'm a retired paramedic who formerly worked in a largish city in the Northeast corner of the U.S. In my post EMS life I provide Quality Improvement instruction and consulting under contract. I haven't really retired, I just don't work nights, holidays, or weekends.  I escaped the Northeast a couple of years ago and now live in Texas.  I'm more than just a little opinionated, but that comes with having been around the block more than once. You can email me at EMSArtifact@gmail.com After living most of my life (so far) in the northeast my lovely wife and I have moved to central Texas because we weren't comfortable in the northeast any longer. Life is full of twists and turns.
