Which was supposed to have been by the one year anniversary of Obama’s inauguration. Only now it looks like it won’t be in the foreseeable future. Seems that President Feckless’ own commission decided that some people were not suitable to be tried in civilian courts, might not even be convicted by military tribunals, but should be held indefinitely in detention outside of CONUS. Which, when President BushMcChimpyHaliburtonHitler did it was criminal, but now isn’t.
President Obama’s Order to Close Guantanamo Bay Naval Base detention facility expired yesterday
From the executive order,
The detention facilities at Guantánamo for individuals covered by this order shall be closed as soon as practicable, and no later than 1 year from the date of this order. If any individuals covered by this order remain in detention at Guantánamo at the time of closure of those detention facilities, they shall be returned to their home country, released, transferred to a third country, or transferred to another United States detention facility in a manner consistent with law and the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States.
Or not.
Oopsie… now somebody has to pony up the budget… Oh wait, we can just take it from the military, they are supposed to be doing it anyway…
