Passengers help foil attack on Detroit-bound plane
The commotion began as Northwest Airlines Flight 253, carrying 278 passengers and 11 crew members from Amsterdam, prepared to land in Detroit just before noon Friday. Travelers said they smelled smoke, saw a glow, and heard what sounded like firecrackers. At least one person climbed over others and jumped on the man, who officials say was trying to ignite an explosive device.
Give this man a medal. He didn’t sit on his thumbs waiting for “the authorities” to handle the situation, he took action. No doubt we’ll hear how he shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions. Personally, I hope he gave this wannabee terrorist a good ass kicking while subduing him. A kicking contest with the guy’s gonads would be about right.
The White House said it believed it was an attempted act of terrorism and stricter security measures were quickly imposed on airline travel. Dutch anti-terrorism authorities said the U.S. has asked all airlines to take extra precautions on flights worldwide that are bound for the United States.
Stricter security measures, eh? No doubt more 80 year old ladies in wheel chairs and cute teenage girls will need to be thoroughly searched. Also, all military personnel will be forced to strip down to their skivvies. We can’t be too careful, you know.
Intelligence and anti-terrorism officials in Yemen said they were investigating claims by the suspect that he picked up the explosive device and instructions on how to use it in that country. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to the media.

President Barack Obama was notified of the incident and discussed it with security officials, the White House said. Officials said he is monitoring the situation and receiving regular updates from his vacation spot in Hawaii.
Let me just conclude by saying this. If it were President George W. Bush and he was on vacation the media would be howling about him not returning to the White House immediately to deal with this. President Vacation is OK to stay in Hawaii and rest, though.

One last warning. If you comment about how this is America’s or George Bush’s fault or anything about Israel and Palestine, don’t expect to see those appear. I’m sick of people pretending that there is any cause other than that these people hate us because they hate western civilization and want to impose their 12th century world view on all of us. It just seems to me that the Powers That Be want to approach this in a 'civilized' manner. How can you be civilized with people who show video around the world of some of their kind sawing someone's head off? You can't. They understand one thing and one thing only- deadly force.

Interestingly Necandum, no matter what the media may think, Islamic Terrorists don't beam down from outer space to commit their acts of war. Despite being a transnational operation, there are specific places where the leadership lives, where they train people, specific states in which they are rooted deeply. Afghanistan, formerly Iraq, Pakistan, and as we've just seen Yemen. Add to that list the Philippines and Somalia, and you have a good start. As a friend of mine notes, this is only a few thousand people, all Muslim, almost all men, mostly between 15 and 40. Their leadership is known at least in part. That's why drones and human resources are used to eliminate them where and when they are found. Maybe you've bought into the omnipotence of the Muslim Terrorist, but fortunately most of us haven't.
