Jim Reeves

2

I forgot that this past Friday (July 31) was the anniversary of the tragic death of “Gentleman” Jim Reeves.

Reeves was a big Country Western star in the late 1950s and early 1960s. As big as he was in the US, he was even more so in South Africa and Europe.

He had a velvety smooth voice, perfect for sweet and sad ballads. His tragic death in 1964 robbed the world of a great musical talent.

Enough of my blather, you can read about his life and death on any number of websites. Here are two of my favorite Reeve’s songs.

OK, three.

I'm a retired paramedic who formerly worked in a largish city in the Northeast corner of the U.S. In my post EMS life I provide Quality Improvement instruction and consulting under contract. I haven't really retired, I just don't work nights, holidays, or weekends.  I escaped the Northeast a couple of years ago and now live in Texas.  I'm more than just a little opinionated, but that comes with having been around the block more than once. You can email me at EMSArtifact@gmail.com After living most of my life (so far) in the northeast my lovely wife and I have moved to central Texas because we weren't comfortable in the northeast any longer. Life is full of twists and turns.

  1. Awesome. I know it's an old post, but it's comment worthy in that most folks don't appreciate good old country music. Good stuff man, can't believe I've not read your stuff much before now..
