I was going to write a post about the dopey Barney Frank yelling at and insulting would be voters. It would have embedded video of his recent Town Hall meeting, and everything.
However it seems that others have done a better job at covering that. My only comment is remember this in November 2010. Not just if you live in Frank’s district either. He is just one rather extreme example of arrogance by career politicians. As Bore Patch says, “Vote ’em All Out“.
There should be no such thing as a career politician. Let’s get Frank and his ilk out of office as soon as the next election. Then, let’s instruct the next Congress to strip them of their benefits. That way they can live like the rest of us, including buying health care insurance.
"…to strip them of their benefits…"Ohhh… that would be particularly magnificent.Never happen though, dammit.
I know, but as they say on the Jimmy Fund cans, "I can dream, can't I?"
AMEN!!!!!!
Linda, you are obviously one of those bitter clinger types, what with your "Amem"ing all over the place. How do you expect serious people like Barney's Frank to take you seriously?Really, some people.
I have fantasized about the current crop of elected bureaucrats' come-uppance more lately in a similar fashion. I have thought of a scheme that might also prevent this – I call it "None of the Above". Simply put, None of the Above is placed on every ballot at the end. If None of the Above gets 40% or more of the vote, the election is invalidated, and the candidates are ineligible for a repeat election. We'd see new blood consistently, and career politicians might have a hard time getting reelected. It acts as an automatic governor for the political consensus, and removes the tendency for consensus-building or deal-making. These people should be doing what is right, not what they have agreed to.
I like that hotdoc. It won't happen, but I still like it.
AMEN Brother… SING IT!!! 🙂
I thought Lawdog had a good start – if you have a degree in law or political science, you can't run for federal office. I'd add that you can't serve in an appointed position, either, unless there is a darn good reason (you got your degree after serving in the military, you have other, more valuable skills that are needed for a certain limited period of time, et cetera). Add term limits and I think we'd see an improvement. I'd also add – replace most of the State Department. If you can't remember which country's interests you serve, you need to find other work after a long vacation to get your head sorted out. LittleRed1
