Just Checking In

15

Thanks to everyone for the comments on the posts. Mrs. TOTWTYTR and I have been relaxing in Paradise since late Tuesday afternoon. The time difference is considerable, when I’m waking up, most of you are almost done for the day. Makes communication with friends and family back home interesting.

I see that the Red Sox are continuing their winning ways. Well, except for dropping one 8-6 to the KC Royals. WTF is up with that?

Anyway, I’ll check in later on in the week. Despite President Feckless doing his best to ruin the country and the lick spittle media just playing along. I’m not at all motivated to comment beyond that.

I see that Micheal Jackson is still dead.

Oh well, enjoy yourselves, because I certainly am.

Oh, one more thing. Apparently TOTWTYTR the next generation is about to premier. Seems I’m about to be a grand father. How did THAT happen?

I'm a retired paramedic who formerly worked in a largish city in the Northeast corner of the U.S. In my post EMS life I provide Quality Improvement instruction and consulting under contract. I haven't really retired, I just don't work nights, holidays, or weekends.  I escaped the Northeast a couple of years ago and now live in Texas.  I'm more than just a little opinionated, but that comes with having been around the block more than once. You can email me at EMSArtifact@gmail.com After living most of my life (so far) in the northeast my lovely wife and I have moved to central Texas because we weren't comfortable in the northeast any longer. Life is full of twists and turns.

  1. Congratulations on the new generation. :)The time difference wasn't much of a problem for us when we lived there, but it did throw some things off. My mother had a bad habit of poorly-timed phone calls, including one at 0500 on my end (so, 1000 in TX) to tell me about a newspaper article she'd read.We did, however, enjoy getting paid at 6 or 7 pm, as it was then midnight on the East Coast.

  2. The time difference is the hardest part of adjusting. I figure I'll just get my internal clock working right and it will be time to fly back home. Other than that, it's lovely.

  3. Congrats on the grandkid, sir!And as for "How did THAT happen?" — well, you, see, when a man and a woman love each other very much . . . eh, you probably heard about the birds and the bees 🙂

  4. I understand the, um, "mechanics" of the whole thing Lissa. It's how I got to this point in my life when my own kids were seemingly just born last week. Time flies by, apparently without consulting with puny man as to whether he wants it to or not.

  5. Hey, a baby! They are fun! Congrats to all involved! Want to borrow mine for some grandfathering practice? I guess I better warn you though, he's learned how to stand and is cutting another tooth. LOL EE

  6. Thanks for the offer, but we have a plan already. My daughter is looking forward to being an aunt. She has already ordered a drum set, pixie sticks, and a case of Mountain Dew. She still owes my son some pay back, I guess. And send me an email about what happened with your blog. I was most upset.

  7. Have fun for the rest of poor slobs that are still working! Congratulations on the grandbaby! My in-laws would be the first to tell you grandbabies are way more fun because you can turn them rotten and then send them home! (for which it takes us about a week to get them back to "normal") LOL

  8. Well, I'm still working, I'm just on vacation. I'll have to work some serious OT to pay this off, but it's worth it. Honolulu has a third service EMS system, if I were younger I'd give applying some serious thought. A few years ago they were recruiting EMTs. Or actually people who wanted to be EMTs. They'd not only pay the tuition for EMT classes, they'd pay people while they went to school. I can't imagine what was so wrong with the job that they had a 18% job opening rate. Oh, and there are some incredibly hot women here. A young guys paradise for more than one reason.

  9. One of my Basic classmates has applied and been accepted by the Hawaii EMS board- she is going to get EMT-Intermediate and head on over to Paradise! If I could uproot my family I might want to go to! but we're pretty well planted here! That's one high turnover rate! Whoa buddy! Wonder what causes that! But there are some services in my area that will pay you while you go to school- you still come up with your tuition but you get paid to attend school!

  10. BP, we're having fun already! My daughter is plotting her revenge for slights real and imagined by her brother. Something about loading the nephew up on Pixie Stix and Mountain Dew before sending him back to dad. Remember the old joke, Q. Why do grand parents and grand children get along so well?A. They share a common enemy.
