Summer Travel, I’m doing it Rong

6

Middle of June, Austin, Texas. Where it’s supposed to be 100.
Early to mid July, Hawaii, need I say more?
Last part of July, Miami.

No doubt I’ll be in Yellow Knife in January.

Timing is everything and mine seems to be off.

I'm a retired paramedic who formerly worked in a largish city in the Northeast corner of the U.S. In my post EMS life I provide Quality Improvement instruction and consulting under contract. I haven't really retired, I just don't work nights, holidays, or weekends.  I escaped the Northeast a couple of years ago and now live in Texas.  I'm more than just a little opinionated, but that comes with having been around the block more than once. You can email me at EMSArtifact@gmail.com After living most of my life (so far) in the northeast my lovely wife and I have moved to central Texas because we weren't comfortable in the northeast any longer. Life is full of twists and turns.

  1. Hippie Land, TX.Hippie Land, HI.Conducting field research?Don't worry, the worst thing you'll encounter in Hawaii is a bunch of tourists who don't realize they should put something on *instead* of a bathing suit before they go to the mall.

  2. No, not field research. I have a nephew in Austin that's getting married. Hawaii is a 30th anniversary trip for Mrs. TOTWTYTR. I've been told that it's OK as long as you stay in the traditional tourist areas, but some other parts are sketchy.

  3. JayG, my kids were 7 and 6 when we went and that was during April. It's a much more fun place without kids!

  4. Timing is off here too… choosing the monsoon season for a week-long motorcycle road trip. Damned difficult to carry an umbrella on a bike.Austin is OK even in the heat. Miami in July is another matter.
