It is to Laugh

I like old movies. You know, the kind where the actors and story were more important than the CGI special effects.

I have Dr. Kildare’s Victory (1941) on right now. It’s filled with gems of medical (although not medicine) knowledge. I just laughed at this little exchange.

Two of the doctors are in the back of an ambulance racing to an emergency. One of them is dating a nurse and is worried that if the administration finds out there will be trouble.

“It’s not the nurses who usually get fired in these situations. Nurses are too valuable, interns are a dime a dozen.”

Later on there is an announcement over the public address system, “All doctors, nurses, and interns, all doctors, nurses, and interns…”

Notice the order of importance!

I'm a retired paramedic who formerly worked in a largish city in the Northeast corner of the U.S. In my post EMS life I provide Quality Improvement instruction and consulting under contract. I haven't really retired, I just don't work nights, holidays, or weekends.  I escaped the Northeast a couple of years ago and now live in Texas.  I'm more than just a little opinionated, but that comes with having been around the block more than once. You can email me at EMSArtifact@gmail.com After living most of my life (so far) in the northeast my lovely wife and I have moved to central Texas because we weren't comfortable in the northeast any longer. Life is full of twists and turns.
