NY EMT allegedly shot subordinates with BB gun
I have a reputation (completely undeserved) of being a bit harsh when a BLS provider underperforms on a call. I’m not harsh, I just expect that the EMT will know how to do some basic things like take a blood pressure, give me a bit of information as to the patient’s condition. Lately I’ve taken a “kinder, gentler” approach, more fatherly as it were.
Still and all, I’ve never contemplated shooting at a fellow employee. A bit over the top, I think. No doubt, stress will enter into the equation somewhere. Probably some sort of substance abuse problem as well.
BROOKLYN, NY — A decorated EMS officer is under investigation for allegedly shooting several subordinates for fun with a BB gun in their Brooklyn battalion headquarters, The Post has learned.
Really, you just can’t do this. Even as a joke.
Apparently someone’s mother was quoted here.
“God forbid, he could have taken out an eye,” said a source familiar with the alleged gunplay by Lt. Leonard Tiberi less than two weeks ago. “He thought it was funny, but the guys weren’t laughing.”
Somehow I’m not all that surprised that someone decided that race had to be involved.
The source also said that all of the EMS workers whom Tiberi allegedly shot at were minorities, while the lieutenant is white. The FDNY had no comment when asked about the races of the people involved.
So, would it have been OK if he was a minority or if they were white? What if he was a minority and the employees were white? Would that be OK?
None of that should matter. What he did was wrong, and he should be disciplined appropriately. The action is wrong and the race or ethnicity of the victims shouldn’t matter one little bit.
*Semi obscure movie reference. But it’s actually in context.
Blazing Saddles?
Next time they’ll bring enough gum for everyone.
Obviously not that obscure. Or you two need to get lives. Or both.
