My only comment on this is that “bombing them into the Stone Age” would be progress for these animals.

True. The Iraqis decided that they wanted to live in the 21st century, not the 7th. Al Qaeda overplayed their hand and the Iraqis turned on them. Sadly, that doesn’t seem to be happening in Pakistan and parts of Afghanistan. This is indeed going to be a long war.
